A few weeks ago, l’Oréal surprised us with an amazing new line of lipsticks: Rouge Caresse. I fell in love with the coral color: Dating coral. I decided to pick it up during a BOGO sale at my local drugstore.

As you might know, Catrice updates their standard collection every 6 months. The time has come and some products must be discontinued, to make room for new products. I was at my local drugstore (Kruidvat) and decided to buy two lipsticks from their Ultimate Shine Line, that were getting discontinued. They were now -50%, so I only paid €2 per lipstick: a steal!
I chose the colors 110 Shy Flamingo (a deep coral with glitter) and 160 Pink Panther (a light shimmery cool pink).

Catrice Ultimate Shine lipsticks come in a very sleek, silver colored packaging. The bottom of the lipstick has a colored sticker with the name and the number of the lipstick. This makes it easy to store them upside down, but you’ll still know what color the lipstick has. As you can see in the pictures above, 110 Shy Flamingo has a curved shape lipstick, while 160 Pink Panther is ‘normal’ shaped. Catrice decided to change the shape of the lipsticks, since many bloggers/customers complained about it. The curved shape makes applying the lipstick to your lips a little tricky. Props to Catrice for listening to their customers. The ‘normal’ shape is much much easier to control application. ‘Catrice’ is engraved in the actual lipstick, this makes the lipstick look very sleek & expensive as well! The lipsticks contain 3.5 gr. of product, which is very good, considering its low price point.

Shy Flamingo is a deep coral color, with lots of gold and silver glitter in it. I hated this! I mean.. I love the color, but what’s up with the grittiness? It’s like having sandpaper on your lips!
Pink Panther is a very light cool pink color, with a little gold/pink/purple shimmer. It’s very pretty and feels much better on your lips. I really love both colors, although I think Shy Flamingo suits me a little better. I love corals, so that’s no surprise
The lipsticks have good color pay-off and the lipsticks feel like butter on your lips. Pink Panther has a tendency to seep a little in the fine lines of your lips, I guess this is due to the light, milky color. It’s not very bad, though. The lipsticks smell a little like vanilla, very sweet. I really like it, but it’s not overpowering. The staying power is so-so, you need to reapply every 2 hours, this has to do with the buttery formula.

Final thoughts
I love the formula of the Catrice Ultimate Shine lipsticks. I really like both colors, though 110 Shy Flamingo is my favorite. But I’m really bummed about the gritty/glittery feeling when wearing Shy Flamingo. I’m glad I purchased both colors though, I’m sure I’ll use them a lot!
Catrice Ultimate Shine lipsticks can be purchased at your local Kruidvat/Trekpleister for €3.99 each, some colors will be discontinued in August (’12), so they’re priced -50%. Stay tuned for another blog post about Catrice’s collection update!
Do you like glittery lipsticks/lipglosses?

A few days ago, I found an amazing review about some neon lipsticks on Suzanne’s blog. They looked amazingly bright & awesome, so after reading her review I decided to buy them both.
I bought the lipsticks on eBay, from this seller, for only €7! I can recommend this seller, I received the lipsticks in perfect condition, within 7 days. I ordered the same colors as Suzanne, which are 102 (neon orange) and 106 (neon red/pink).

Star Gazer Lipsticks come in a very cheap-looking (at least, in my opinion), round plastic case. The white text isn’t making the packaging look any prettier too.. The ingredients are mentioned on the side of the lipstick, which isn’t a pretty look. So sad, because these lipsticks really deserve better! The cover is see-through, which is cool, so you can see the amazing color immediately. The lipsticks contain 3.2 gr. of product, which is pretty good, considering it’s low price. I really like the shape of the lipstick itself, it makes it very easy to apply it on your lips.

I’m a little disappointed about the packaging, but I’m definitely not disappointed about the lipsticks itself! Both colors are AMAZINGLY pretty, so neon and nothing like I’ve ever seen before. They have a nice texture, they feel a little jelly-ish when I swatched them. The color pay-off is amazing, which I really didn’t expect since they’re neons after all. Fortunately, the lipsticks don’t have a smell whatsoever. I was scared that they’d smell like plastic LOL! They feel very creamy on the lips and they don’t feel drying at all. The staying power is very good, they last up to 3 hours for me. They do transfer a little, if you eat/drink something.
Final thoughts
These lipsticks are definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you like bright makeup then I highly suggest for you to pick them up, since they’re amazing! I’m so sad that we can’t get them anywhere in stores here.
Star Gazer Lipsticks can be purchased on eBay or from their Dutch Webshop for approximately €4 each.
Have you ever been daring enough to wear neon makeup?

Today I have a review for you! This review is going to be about some Golden Rose makeup, that I was fortunate enough to test out! I was really curious about the quality of Golden Rose makeup, since I really really like their flakie & holographic nail polishes!
Let’s start

Let’s take a look at the first product I tested ![]()

Powder Blush – 07 Tan Glow
What Golden Rose says:
This unique Powder Blush makes sure your skin has a glowy and healthy look, due to it’s special texture and and easy application. Powder Blush can be used on every skin- and makeup color, thanks to its large color selection.
Suggested retail price: €8.95
What Vanillaa says:
Packaging
The Powder Blush came in a sturdy, golden colored, cardboard packaging. Its details are a mixed matte & shiny print. Looks quite nice
The Powder Blush is pressed into a neat packaging. I really like the look & feel of this packaging. It feels sturdy and it’s nice & compact. The Golden Rose ‘trademark’ GR is pressed into the blush, it looks good! On the back you can find the product name/color, its ingredients and its content in grams and US ounces. The blush contains 7g/0,25oz of product.
Product
The blush has such a pretty color! it’s like a warm, earthy kind of color. On your skin, the blush looks matte, but you can see some very(!) subtle shimmer in the pan. The blush has a nice texture, not too hard and not too soft either. You know those blushes that will crumble all over the place once you first touch it with a brush? Well, this won’t happen with this blush, fortunately
The blush smells like nothing really, it doesn’t contain any perfume. The product has is easily blendable, and has great color payoff. This means you have to be careful with applying it though, so don’t pick up too much with your brush! The blush will stay put on your face the whole day, I noticed minimal fading of the color throughout the day.
As I mentioned earlier in this review, this blush is suitable for everybody who likes warm, earthy colors as blush colors! I think this blush won’t show up as much if you’ve got very dark skin, but then again, you can always check out the other colors, since there are nine other shades available!
Pros
- The color(s), packaging, texture and longevity!
- Price
Cons
- Availability (only available online or at certain beauty centers)
Okay, now let’s take a look at the next product ![]()

Pearl Gloss Lipgloss – 04
What Golden Rose says:
The Pearl Gloss Lipgloss creates a pearly, ultra glossy look on the lips, thanks to its innovative texture – high shine, normal coverage. Pearl Gloss Lipgloss nourishes and hydrates your lips with shea butter and powerful anti-oxidants (vitamin E). You can also use this product as an extra layer on top of your lipstick.
Suggested retail price: €7.95
What Vanillaa says:
Oh really, I can also use this on top of a lipstick?!
Sorry, this made me laugh ![]()
Packaging
I don’t really like the packaging on this, but I’m having a hard time to define why.. It’s a very small (about a finger length), clear plastic tube, with golden details. I’m disappointed that the gloss doesn’t have a name, only a number. The blush dóes have a name, so why not name all your products? The gloss contains 8 ml/0.27 fl. oz. The cap twists off. The applicator is huge, and it holds a lot of product. What I dó like about the applicator though, is that it is a little flexible, which makes it feel quite nice on the lips.
Product
Let me tell you, this product smells sweet! Whew! Like sour candy. I don’t really like this, reminds me of those flavored balms/glosses I used to use when I was little. The color is pretty, a nice soft pink color with some shimmer. There are 9 other colors available! The color pay off isn’t really impressing, you won’t see much color on your lips. It’s shines beautifully though and the shimmer is very nice too. Too bad you can feel the shimmers on your lips a little, it’s like very fine sandpaper..
The consistency is nice, it’s not too sticky, but it stays put for a good two hours on me. It does transfer easily when you eat/drink something.
I think this gloss is suitable for someone who is looking for a lot of shine, without the stickiness and without a lot of color.
Pros
- The non-stickiness and shine
- Price
Cons
- The scent (in my opinion, you may like it
)
- Bad color pay off
- Texture (I hate feeling grittiness in a lip gloss)
- Packaging (looks a bit cheap in my opinion)
- Availability (only available online or at certain beauty centers)

Final thoughts
As positive that I am about the blush, I don’t really like the lip gloss. I also think they should update their packaging a little, since it looks a little outdated IMHO.. The prices of the products are great though! I would really like it, if this brand would be available in local drugstores too!
Golden Rose make-up is available via this Dutch webshop.

As you might know, MAC Cosmetics is my favorite makeup brand. But what you might NOT know, is that they also make my HG makeup remover for the entire face: MAC Cleanse Off Oil!

Packaging:
The cleanser comes in a sleek, plastic bottle. You can turn the cap to open/close the pump system. Be careful when you’re travelling though, the pump might open! That’s also the reason why I save the bottle in it’s original cardboard packaging, to prevent spilling when you’re on the go
The oil itself has a light yellow color. MAC Cleanse Off Oil contains 150 ml. or 5.0 US FL. OZ. of product.
Product:
The remover contains very nice oils, such as jojoba, wheat and rice germ oil. For added benefits: lavender, bitter orange, evening primrose and rose oils are added. The oil is pretty thick in consistency and smells divine. The right way to use this remover is to apply one/two pumps of oil on your dry hands, rub it together and apply it on dry skin. Massage it very well, also carefully on your eye area. When you look like a raccoon: apply some lukewarm water to your hands and massage your face again. The oil will emulsify and the clear consistency will turn into a milky liquid. Then, wash your face with water and there you have it: perfectly soft, clean skin! No oily residue at all, it’s like a miracle product. It removes everything, even waterproof makeup! No more messing around with cotton pads, milk, lotion, cleansers and so on. This oil will do the trick, all in one! After you used this oil, you can put on a toner, serum and cream and your done for the night!
This oil is suited for every skin type, from very dry to very oily skin. As long as you make sure to remove all the traces of oil. Word of warning: be sure not to have any allergies for the oils that are a part of this oil, or your face will turn bright red!
Pros:
- It simply works!
- Soft, delicate cleansing: No harsh, stripping ingredients.
- Added benefit: stimulating the bloodstream by massaging your face.
- You only need a little water to clean your entire face, no more hassle with multiple products.
- Very economical in use: you only need a little bit. A bottle will last you 6-9 months with daily use.
- The scent
Cons:
- Contains oils to which some people are allergic to. Always check the ingredients of products you use!
- Price
- Availability (only available at MAC counters & stores)
Final thoughts:
Hands down my favorite makeup remover and in my opinion definitely worth the price!
MAC Cleanse Off Oil is available at all M.A.C. counters and stores and will retail for $26.00 / €23.00
